What makes us unique?

Create a safe and secure world

Whatever role you join us in you’ll be part of a team that create products and services that serve the bigger picture within defence and public services. You’ll keep our customers at the heart of what we do, finding better ways to deliver for the people who rely on us.

With meaningful work that supports national security, communities and a safer world – you’ll always know what you contribute to customers and end-users. Feel proud of the difference you make.

The foundations to grow

You’ll be part of a FTSE 100 business of 29,000 people, and work in sectors of national importance. We think in decades, not quarters. So, bring your best: your ideas, your integrity, your drive, and a willingness to shape the future with us. See the full picture and be trusted to play your part in it.

You’ll find a global company that has safety and long-term stability at its heart. With clear development pathways and access to learning at every stage, you’ll have the opportunities to grow your career and skills. We have the scale to see your potential realised.

Go together, go far

We’re driven by our principles and believe that to go far, we must go together. The quality of our relationships – with each other and with our customers – define our success. Think beyond boundaries, share knowledge, be curious, and always act with kindness and courage.

Be in a place where difference is respected and individuality is embraced. We’ll provide you with flexibility where it matters – in inclusive leave polices and in hybrid or agile working that actively supports your wellbeing and work/life balance. Every colleague is an owner of our business.

Rewards and Benefits

We’re committed to building an exceptional employee experience – one that supports all aspects of your wellbeing so that you can be the best version of yourself every day. In fact, it’s an approach that saw us win a silver award for our Wellbeing Strategy at the 2025 Appreciation Awards.

Agile working

Agile working means offering more choice and autonomy about how, when and where we do our best work – all while balancing the needs of our customers, business, team and ourselves. It breaks down traditional limitations such as dedicated desks, one-size-fits-all working hours and hierarchical office design in favour of more innovative approaches to workplaces and working patterns. For you, this could mean flexible start and finish times, a mix of office and home working, or even condensed working weeks.

We believe that everyone at Babcock should be able to embrace some version of agile working. As a result, we aim to create teams that feel more engaged and provide an environment that fosters greater personal wellbeing. Check our job adverts for more details or talk to our recruitment team about what agile working looks like for the role and team you’re applying for.

Development and support

You’ll receive the support you need to deliver and thrive in your role. As a large global organisation, we offer plenty of opportunities to grow your skills and develop your career.

To help navigate these opportunities, we introduced the ‘Babcock Role Framework’, which helps our people better understand what we all do, where they fit in, and what opportunities are available.

Every job is mapped to a common set of role ‘families’ and five common career pathways. With our role framework, you’ll know what the next step on the pathway is and what that role involves, meaning you’ll be joining an organisation where professional development and career opportunities are transparent.
Once you know where you want to go, we’ll help you get there. As well as the support of your manager and colleagues, there are a range of resources and programmes in place to fuel your development. Our range of online training courses available include:

  • Apprenticeship and Graduate Programmes
  • The Babcock Skills Academy
  • ‘Women in Defence’ and ‘Women in Nuclear’ leadership schemes
  • Strathclyde University and Cranfield University leadership programmes
  • Our ‘MentorMatch’ mentoring programme
  • ‘Illuminate’, our women’s development programme

We’ll empower you to fulfil your potential – whether that’s in your own team or in another part of our business altogether.

Inclusion and diversity

For us, the transformative power of different perspectives and working with people from different backgrounds, cultures, and approaches enhances our working environment and drives our business performance.
