What will you do on the programme?

On our Human Resources Graduate Programme, you’ll discover how we attract, develop and support our most valuable asset – our people. With around 29,000 employees across Babcock, HR plays a vital role in ensuring our workforce has the skills, support and opportunities needed to deliver critical services around the world.

You’ll gain experience across a broad range of HR disciplines, including talent acquisition, talent management, organisational development, employee relations, employment law, bid and contract support, and project management. Working alongside experienced professionals, you’ll see how HR partners with the business to attract top talent, build critical capability and support long-term business success.

How is the programme structured?

This two-year programme is built around four six-month placements across the UK, giving you the opportunity to experience different areas of the HR function and develop a broad understanding of how HR supports the business.

As you progress, you’ll take on increasing responsibility while working towards your CIPD qualification. We’ll support you throughout your studies, helping you apply your learning to real business challenges and build a strong foundation for a successful career in Human Resources.

From day one, you’ll receive structured support, personalised training, and dedicated mentorship to help you excel throughout your programme and beyond.

You’ll join our Graduate Development Programme, featuring expert-led masterclasses on communication, personal branding, resilience, and wellbeing.

To help you progress toward Chartered status with the CIPD, we offer full guidance and cover all associated fees.

What’s waiting for you after the programme?

Once you complete the programme, you’ll likely move into a HR operational role – ready to take on new challenges and build on everything you’ve learned.

From there, your development doesn’t stop. We’ll support you as you grow into more senior roles and take on greater responsibility. Through the Babcock Role Framework, you’ll have a clear view of how your career can progress, with mapped-out pathways, development opportunities and the tools you need to get wherever you want to go.

What do you need to apply?

  • You’ll need to have achieved, or be on track to achieve, a degree (Hons) in Business Management or Human Resources.
  • Many of our programmes are subject to Security Clearance and Trade Control restrictions which mean that your place of birth, nationality, citizenship, or residency you hold or have held may impact which programmes you are eligible for. For this programme, you must be able to achieve and maintain Baseline Personnel Security Standard (BPSS) and Security Check (SC) clearance. Further details are available at United Kingdom Security Vetting: clearance levels – GOV.UK (www.gov.uk).

Where will you be based?

Our Human Resources programme for September 2027 is part of our Group Graduate Programme.

Your placements in Human Resources could take you to a number of our sites across the UK, including Plymouth, Bristol and Warrington in England, and HM Naval Base Clyde and Rosyth in Scotland.

We ask all our graduates to be open to relocating during the programme. This flexibility helps you get the most out of your placements and allows us to match you with the right opportunities across the business. We’ll always do our best to understand your preferences and balance them with business needs.
