Electronic and communications engineering

Electronic engineering is more than just circuits and code at Babcock — it’s about powering the systems that protect nations and connect communities

Whether you’re supporting space-based systems as part of our SKYNET contract or optimising embedded technologies for defence, your work will have a real-world impact.

You’ll join a community of forward-thinking professionals who thrive on technical challenges and purpose-driven work. Here, your knowledge will be valued — not just for what you’ve done, but for how you can mentor, lead, and influence the next generation of engineers. We’ll empower you to take ownership of projects, contribute to strategic decisions, and drive continuous improvement across the engineering lifecycle.

Most of our electronic engineering opportunities are based in Bristol and Plymouth, where we support some of the UK’s most advanced defence and energy programmes. Roles are typically split between technician and engineer pathways, offering clear progression for both hands-on specialists and strategic technical leaders.
